|Subject: Re: Brussels-Frankfurt Train Travel|
Hi, Ziners and Dan...
Given that your travel plans are over the Christmas holidays you might want to get your tickets ahead of time. You should be able to do this through http://bahn.hafas.de (which will take you to a site with a much longer URL). click English in the upper right.
This is the best site going for schedules, and you can order your tickets. I haven''t done this myself yet, but I get reports that it works quite well, and that DeutscheBahn will even mail the tickets to the USA. Unfortunately, the ticket ordering pages are only in German. Usually you can get walkup tickets, but since it's the holidays...
I presume you are using the Brussels-Midi (Zuid) station, but don't indicate how you will get to Belgium. If arriving from somewhere else in Europe you can get your tickets at almost any major rail station on the continent. In England you have to get them at, I believe, Waterloo Station. In fact, you should be OK getting your tickets at Bruges when you first arrive.
If you want to make sure to sit together and the train might be crowded buy seat reservations. First Class is rarely worth the price.
