Good evening !
If you love sailing, and need a reason to visit Spain, you might want to look into travelling to Valencia on 2007 (or before :) ).
Valencia will hold the next America´s Cup (given that they weren´t going to sail in Lac Leman) during the year 2007. http://www.americascup.org/en/index.php The Louis Vuitton Challenger races will begin in April´2007, and the final races will begin in June´2007. The America´s Cup is arriving tonight to Valencia, and I hope it will survive the mad display of fireworks that will happen.
More reasons to visit Valencia :
- Beautiful weather http://www.turisvalencia.es/ - Las Fallas http://www.fallas.com/ - City of the Arts and Sciences http://www.cac.es/ . An interesting example of what Santiago Calatrava can do when given free reins (and why his architecture is much better for sunny lands than rainy Bilbao ...), and don´t forget the contents. - Paella and oranges, of course ... - The Tribunal de las Aguas. One of the oldest institutions, born in the Middle Ages and still organizing a very important resource for their economy : water. - Artists like Sorolla (its main museum is in Madrid http://museosorolla.mcu.es/ , but its light belongs to Valencia), Blasco Ibañez or Benlliure. - The National Park of L´Albufera http://www.albufera.com , an interesting wetland, with its own customs ...
