|Subject: Re: Reasonably priced London hotels|
We stayed last week for two nights at the Travel Inn at County Hall, just across from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. It is about 80 pounds a night for two without breakfast. Howver they provide a nice coffee and tea tray in the room which with a yogurt or bun gave us a good breakfast. Good for families because they have larger rooms with two beds and no charge for kids, I believe. Right beside the London Eye. Great private bathrooms, professional service. Walk to Westminster subway stop. http://www.travelinn.co.uk
On phase one of our trip we stayed at the Linden House Hotel near Paddington. We got a deal through Superbreaks (third night free) which made it cheaper than the Travel Inn. No elevator, shower a bit wonk, room a bit sparse but friendly people and good traditional breakfast was included. There is a super little pub up the street too. I wouldn't recommend the hotel at full price but with the discount it was acceptable. Lots of Brits staying there. http://www.lindenhousehotel.co.uk/ We booked through http://www.londontouristboard.com/
We also stayed one night at the Gatwick Travel Inn - even cheaper. Very close to the North Terminal (we took the 2 pound fare bus when we arrived late at night but walked the few minutes the next morning).
Just got back two hours ago - I'll post more about museums, etc. very soon.
