|Subject: Re: Free day in Bergen, Norway|
I have a Norwegian friend whose daughter lives in Bergen and
visited there last May. She describes Bergen as being one of
oldest cities in Norway with lots to see. She suggested the
Visit Edvard Grieg's house and museum. In May there are often
concerts held there and tour buses to and from these concerts can be booked at the harbour. Take the funicular (the Floyen) to the top of the city from the harbour and get great views. Visit the Hanseatic museum and excavation site located to one side of the harbour. Visit the Maria church - the oldest stone church in Norway. It is within walking distance from the harbour. Visit the fish market at the harbour- people pick out their live fish at the stalls.
