|Subject: Re: Venice - Paris?|
I gather the vote is overwhelmingly for Paris, but as a dedicated
Italianophile, let me put in a vote for Venice.
Actually, my vote is not for Venice, but for the Veneto, the region surrounding Venice that includes such magnificent sites as Padua, Verona, Bassano Del Grappa, and Vicenza. One great advantage to each of these places, Venice included, is their small size. You can take a train from any one of these cities to any other and have a comfortable day trip without the complexities of travel in a large city. Any guide to the area can fill you in the details. Although we love Florence and Como more, we would go there in a heartbeat.
