|Subject: Re: Paris Favorites?|
My Paris favorite is a picnic on the Champs du Mars at sunset.
watching in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower can't be beat.
My only real disappointment was the area around Sacre Couer. I think I had built it up in my mind to be something it just was not and I don't think I was in the right frame of mind that day (hot and tired) to deal with what the reality was. I was expecting to find artists
painting the local sights, instead I found artists painting not what they saw, but what they expected tourists to buy. I was much more impressed with the few artists I saw on the bridges near Notre Dame painting street scenes. They looked like they were painting for the sake of painting and not with the primary goal of selling the standard French street scene to the next tour group. Still wish I had bought a watercolor from one of them...oh well, something to look forward to next time.
Perhaps next time I'll try the walking tour of Montmarte that was suggested...I don't want to give up on the area altogether!
