Subject: Croatia and Slovenia |
Hi Ziners
My husband and I are going to Croatia and Slovenia this May. Although we are going on an organized group tour, we always do things on our own as much as possible, using the tour mostly for transportation, lodging and some sights. On free times we do not take optional trips, but go off on our own. We are planning a trip for one day and would love any input as to whether this is too much for one day, are all of these places worth seeing, etc. We want to rent a car in Opatija Croatia (I think Budget rent a car has a desk at the Millenium hotel where we are staying) then drive north into Slovenia to see Predjama Castle and then drive to Lake Cerknica. From there we want to take a short hike in Rakov #kocjan to see the gorge and natural bridges. Next we want to drive south to the see picturesque (so they say) village of Lo# on our way to Sne#nik Castle (we love castles). Then drive south through Risnjak National Park and then west back toward Opatija. If we have enough time we would also like to drive onto Krk Island and explore the Medieval Village of Vrbnik and sample some of their #lahtina wine before returning back to Opatija. How does this sound? Do-able? Anything good we missed? What about the caves nearby? Thank you so much for any information Gail, from sunny but cold Missouri |
