How does one move larger amounts? Say that you have to pay a week or two of lodging at once and they want cash. It would be more than you are allowed to take from an ATM at one go.

My daughter's father-in-law suggested putting money on a credit card (it would have to be one that you don't use a lot) and then withdrawing it in Europe. But we don't feel that comfortable with that. There must be a different way.

Any suggestions? No urgency (sigh!) because we don't have any immediate travel plans.
