I have been taking night photos for years and there actually is on such thing as night film. As Nelly pointed out you need higher speed film, but the only way to take night pictures is by time exposure. Depending on the type of camera you have a the speed of the film will dictate the time of the exposure. Also, you should not use film greater than 400 ASA because it's starts to get pretty grainy above that speed. I currently use a digital camera that is capable of time exposure. It works well as long as you use it with a tripod, that's another important part of night photography. I hoe this helps. Have a good trip.
