|Subject: credit cards|
I kept out of the raging discussion about credit v. debit cards,
as it is
possible the rules are different here. Apart from physically
losing your card,
you can have your identity stolen. A friend had this happen
to her somewhere
in Italy, she had thousands of dollars in electronic goods
put on her card
while still having possession of her card.
I have also had email about the scam of people having their identity stolen - name, number and expiry date (card not person), by people photographing the card while it is in use. So watch out for people holding mobile phones (that also take photos) near you in supermarket queues, etc. There are ingenious thieves everywhere.
