Subject: Re: Paris Cafes and elsewhere...

It is interesting to hear different experiences - I remember our very first trip to Paris - walking along the Champs Elysee - stopped at an outdoor cafe asked for a table - I think as Harvey and I both speak French that it make a difference - the waiter was quite friendly and joked with us noting that for 40 francs (pre euro days) we could have a table - when he saw our expressions he noted that he was joking and then said for 40 francs you get to keep your wife - we had great service and when I asked for the washroom the waiter offered me 2 francs as they were pay washrooms - perhaps because of the language our experiences have been quite positive.
