|Subject: Re: Hotel in Florence|
We stayed in the Hotel Giaconda. It was in a wonderful location, close to everything. It's claim to fame is that this is where the Mona Lisa was hidden after it was stolen from the Louvre. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the people who run it are very helpful. It is small - only 25 rooms. It was built in 1800 and was undergoing renovations last year. The only problem is that there is no elevator, so you might have to climb a lot of stairs if your room is near the top of the building. Very reasonable prices - this is one of the hotels used by AlItalia for its package deals.
