|Subject: Good value gifts from Paris|
Hello Ziners, especially Chip & Margy,
You asked about shopping for gifts in Paris. First of all, stuff is expensive, on the whole Many things are cheaper here, even though they were made there!
3 things I like (I noted you said you liked eating) are: Mustard - Maille has a nice store at 6 place de la Madeleine. Excellent Mustards, some in beautiful packaging. Honey - there is a Maison de la Mielle (I think) also near the Place de la Madeleine. Also, Olivier oils - somewhere in the Marais, I think. Lovely olive, and nut oils, nice packaging. Something a little different is Laguiole knives. There is a shop in the Forum des halles area - near one of the entrances to Chatelet Metro stop. These are beautiful, hand finished knives. Not terribly cheap, but distinctive and a nice gift if you have someone on your list who is in to knives. Everything from small enough to hang on your key chain, to normal size pocket knives, plus carving knives - which are the most expensive!
Good luck on your trip. Hope this helps.
