Subject: Re: Samos and Kusadasi
Hi Ruth Marie, My daughter and I travelled in Greece in 2002. We went to Samos mainly to get the ferry to the port Kusadasi and visit Ephesus, which is an incredible site. I would not have missed it for anything, and hope to travel in Turkey soon. As for inexpensive and easy to carry gifts: In Kusadasi we bought Turkish Delight candy which was much appreciated by my friends. I also bought handmade leather sandals which they loved. My daughter went wild over the brand name clothes in the bazaar near the waterfront. In Samos they have their own delicious Samian wine and I have to agree with Lucy that we had some of the best pizza there. The town of Pythagorio, which is about 15km from Samos, is very pretty and is the site of the World Heritage listed ancient city of Samos. It is also where we had the special goat in the oven at the Taverna Maritsa. Enjoy your travelling. Dolores St. John's, Newfoundland
