I was in Sri Lanka about 4 years ago and loved it. My husband and I combined it with a trip to the Maldives (my vote for the best beaches in the world) and we definitely want to return to be able to explore more of Sri Lanka - it's a fascinating place, beautiful scenery, and the people are wonderful. We got to Sigiriya, Dambulla, and Kandy and also the hill/tea country of Nuwara Eliya.

I recommend it highly - the flight might be expensive but you can travel throughout the country, eat, and stay very cheaply once you are there.
