Marty, Yes, it's true. Visitors to Bermuda are not permitted to rent cars (or any four wheeled vehicle) nor are immigrants permitted to bring a car into the country. If you do rent a moped remember that the rules require a helmet and that driving is on the left side of the road.

There is a bus service, but Transportation Bermuda warns that these are subject to wildcat strikes and do not have overhead racks for luggage. Passengers must have tokens, passes or transfers - cash is not accepted.
