Hi Mary,
I can't help you with the Golden Gate Bridge area, but we used to spend quite a bit of time in Pt Reyes - In fact, we used to go for years while one of our kids was in college there - Choosing to unwind from the cold northeast with 3 - 4 days hiking in that extraordinarily beautiful area before visiting with our son in college in the Sacramento area. We stayed at at the Holly Tree Inn near Pt. Reyes Nat.Seashore (http://www.bbonline.com/ca/hollytree/index.html)-- The only reason I mention this is that they had a wonderful cottage (Now, I guess they have cottages) -- really more like a doll house - with a woodstove and they leave you breakfast in the fridge so that you have complete privacy and quiet - It was terrific and something you said you like for a vacation! It is about 20 min to the nearest of the beaches and you have all of that glorious sand, trails, wildlife and flowers ahead of you. We have also stayed at the Roundstone Farm - which has lovely views!! http://www.bbonline.com/ca/roundstone/index.html Another page for B&B's in the area is: http://www.bbonline.com/ca/ptreyes/members.html Inverness has Mankas for upscale food and Pt Reyes Station has the Firehouse for the same. The Inn at Olena has wonderful, organic food and more atmosphere while being a bit quieter. I'm jealous - You're in for a treat! Good luck - email me directly if you have questions. Susie Newton, MA |
