|Subject: Budget Hotel - Munich|
I just returned this week from three weeks in Germany and Austria.
This was a budget trip--less than $100 per day including airfare. I hope the information will be helpful to others traveling in the same way.
We chose this hotel for the neighborhood--the Lehel which is convenient to the Marienplatz area but appears to be safer than the area around the train station. The hotel is about four blocks from the Isartor and on the Tram #17 line which goes to the train station.
Our room was very basic and of a decent size. There were four rooms on our floor which shared a WC and shower although it appeared that one room was ensuite. Breakfast consisted of rolls, coffee and juice. There is no elevator. It was clean and well maintained.
If you are looking for charm, this isn't your place but if you are looking for a cheap, decent, quiet place with more privacy than a youth hostel then this would work for you. We paid about 50 Euros per night.
