I'm guessing that you'll find a U.S. style keyboard in New Zealand, since 90% of the population is English speaking. I can't remember what the keyboard combination is for the typing the @ sign in Europe (btw there are many different keyboards over there!). I'm thinking that in Italy it involved the Alt-GR key and a couple of others but I'm not at all sure which ones.

After some searching, I finally found a Microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/keyboards.aspx that shows various keyboards. The fact that it doesn't have one for New Zealand might mean that their keyboards are like ours.
