Subject: Lascaux & more (was: Archaeological sites in Europe)
Dear Tiffany and others,

In the Dordogne area of France, Lascaux is the best known of the caves. It is, of course, Lascaux II--a recreation of the original, because the presence of people in Lascaux I has done considerable damage. The recreation was done using the same techniques and with paints prepared in the same way and is a remarkable achievement

Here is their website:

There are many other caves etc., all around Les Eyzies which is (I think) where cro-magnon man was discovered.

Another interesting site is the megaliths in the Morbihan (Brittany). Similar to Stonehenge, but somewhat more approachable at this time.

Their website is the same as above, except substitute megalithes for lascaux

Hope this is helpful. Have a great trip!
