|Subject: Southern England report|
We had an awesome 11 days in Southern England. I wanted to
information about the B& Bs we used because they were all great.
We had a fabulous view of the harbor in Portsmouth: http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/sailmakers.html There were quite a few steps up to our top floor room but it was worth every step. We were within walking distance of the Historic Dockyard and the Gunwharf complex.
Our next stop was in Storrington: http://freespace.virgin.net/ted.howl/ We used Lois and Ted's place as a base for trips to two open air museums and Arundel Castle. There was a lot more we could have done from here if we'd had time.
Then into Kent: http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/charcott.html Ginny and Nick have a 350 year old farmhouse that has all the modern conveniences. The location is incredible. It is out in the countryside yet very convenient to more castles, homes, dockyards, etc. than we had time to do during our six night stay with them. It is also less than an hour from Gatwick.
If anyone wants any additional information about these places or things to do in the area, just let me know! Take care, Janet
