Subject: Re: ATMs & health insurance |
Hi Ziners -- I think the real problems with ATMs is that in
the
United States you can use them to take money out of either a
savings
or checking account, but in Europe you must take the money out
of a
checking account. We had a near disaster when my daughter went
off to
college in London several years ago armed with her ATM card
and it
didn't work because she only had a savings account. Fortunately,
we'd
also provided her with a credit card which she used until we
could
open a checking account for her. Since then we've always just
made
sure to have plenty of money in our checking account when we
travel
abroad.
