We stayed at Hotel La Badia http://www.hotellabadia.it in Sorrento for 4 nights in June 2003. Small hotel in an old villa with a nice pool and garden. There were very few Americans. It is a 10-15 minute walk into Sorrento, so it's quiet and peaceful. We took the train to Naples one day and the ferry back; the ferry is better. Went to Capri to hike to the imperial roman villa - nice hike and views, small park near entrance for picnic, which you can pick up at the grocery store along the way.
