Subject: Re: Amalfi Coast recommendations.
Hi Graziella,

I went to Sorrento for four nites in March 2002, and stayed at the Hotel Bristol.

I made the arrangements myself over the web and with email. They were wonderful. We had a room with a turret and a hot tub on the second highest floor, I think 16, with a gorgeous view of Vesuvius. The breakfast room and buffet were exquisite.

The pictures from the web cam on this url are from the roof directly above our room.

We walked around downtown, went into Naples by train one day, happened on the Palm Sunday parade and stopped at Herculaneum, went into Pompei another day, and did a tour with a local driver down the Amalfi Coast all the way to Ravello. Wanted to walk up Vesuvius, but it was closed the weekend we were there. It was all so beautiful, I just plain ran out of time.

No car. We took the train Circumvesuviana, which was actually a wonderful ride, but there are pickpockets so you have to be careful. It's not dangerous, I traveled with a 17 year old and a 12 year old.

There is a ferry to Capri if you have the time. I envy you.
