The view of Paris from the roof of the Samaritaine is not closed. What happened is that it became so popular that people would go to the store just for the view. The store now charges a modest fee to get to the roof for the view. I THINK that if you have lunch there, you don't have to pay the fee (but don't quote me on that)

Besides walking tours, you can do a Segway tour too. Looks like a lot of fun!
