|Subject: Re: changing frequent flyer tickets|
We were recently traveling with a couple who had to interrupt their trip mid-trip to fly home because his mother was unexpectedly in intensive care. They dealt with United Airlines and British Airlines about changing their frequent flyer tickets, but I think the principles are the same. And they were successful.
In addition to the advice offered by others (speak to a supervisor, remain polite, assume you will be taken care of), I would also encourage you to research the possible routes for you to get home. In other words, be prepared to suggest that the agent look for tickets from Rome or perhaps from Nice through Paris. As with your initial booking, you have optional routes.
