|Subject: Re: Toronto Get-Together|
Glad to hear that you will be here for the Get-Together, August 7th.
There are hotel specials available: http://www.torontotourism.com/TOEssentials/PackageThemes.htm
The Bond Place seems reasonably priced and it's in a central location. Several other hotels nearby - the Comfort Inn, etc. as well as Neill-Wycik College which is a student residence during the year and a hotel in the summer. You might also consider the Hotel Victoria. http://www.hotelvictoria-toronto.com/
Bear it in mind that I haven't stayed in hotels in Toronto - at least not for 30 years!
The Toronto Zoo is not central but can be reached by public transit, including shuttle buses. http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/pdf/zoo_service_2004.pdf http://www.torontozoo.com/
While you are here, you might like to see the special art exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Turner, Monet and Whistler. http://www.ago.net/
You might be interested in the Half Price theatre booth in Dundas Square. http://www.totix.ca/
The historic Distillery District is very popular. There is always something going on and the buildings are interesting in themselves. http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com/home.html My favorite is the Sandra Ainsley Gallery with its fabulous glass. http://www.sandraainsleygallery.com/ Price is right too - free, but the glass by Dale Chihuly and others is amazing and amazingly expensive!
