Subject: Re: Help wanted - Chicago trip
Hi, Sybil... We have stayed in the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Hubbard Street several times, and we always enjoy it, as it's well located. It's nice, but I don't think I'd say that it was unique. I've heard good things about the House of Blues Hotel, which is right next to the House of Blues.

You may want to order a CTA pass... they have 1, 2, 3, and 5 day visitor passes for unlimited travel on metra and bus:

We love Chicago! Don't miss the Chicago, deep dish pizza -- our favorite is Giordano's at 730 Rush Street, not too far from the hotel -- phone number is (312) 951-0747. Our favorite things to do are to walk along the lake and just browse in the stores, my favorite being Crate & Barrel at 646 N. Michigan Ave. You may enjoy walking on Navy Pier... it's a bit crowded and very expensive, but it is pretty to walk out to the end. There are free trolleys all over, and there's one near the Courtyard Marriot that goes to Navy Pier.

You may want to take the bus or metra to Lincoln Park, where there is a free zoo. You'll also find restaurants, and shopping in the area. I can only recommend one restaurant in Lincoln Park, though, as we've only eaten at the Duke of Perth... an authentic Scottish pub, with great fish and chips.

The following site is very helpful:

To find out what's going on in Chicago, check out the Chicago Reader:

Half price tickets for shows are available at Hot Tix:

Of course, don't miss the Chicago Art Institute:

The Goodman Theatre isn't too far and in a good area.

The Royal George Theater and Steppenwolf are further out:

Don't know how long you'll be there, but there's a city pass which lets you into 6 attractions for one price -- all the museums and the Hancock Observatory:

Hope this helps... Have a great trip! :-)
