I've made hotel reservations using Venere from a cybercafe while traveling without worries. Just fill in their form rather than e- mailing your card number. Look at the terms of the place you're booking; when I booked, the policy was that the hotel would take 50% if I cancelled after midnight the Monday night that I made the reservation for the following Friday night. Also, while I guaranteed the reservation by credit card, I only found out while I was at the hotel that they didn't take credit cards. I suppose the hotel's site needs to say that they take credit cards for you to be sure that they do.
