Subject: Re: Ferrara

in all the Pianura Padana (Northern Italy plains) fog is a constant presence throughout fall and winter, but it doesn't mean every day is the same, so you have just to see how the day is. Ferrara and surroundings are vary flat (the only rise I remember being the passing over the moats) and there are a lot of bycicles around. Some of the town is pedestrian/bike only, some not, and many streets are paved with cobblestones, so it requires some attention. The Pomposa Abbey is very nice but touristy, almost any bus tour stops there, and last time I was there they had started charging for the visit which used to be free. Ferrara is also a good base to see Bologna, if you aren't staying there. Bye Paolo Trieste, Italy
