I frequently use Mapquest.com but I find it will often show you the long way around to get somewhere instead of a direct route. But some help is better than none.

Can anyone tell me how to use a compass? I get turned around in foreign cities easier. I have tried various ways to use the compass but it still is a mystery to me. Say I am leaving my hotel, going to a known point, and then coming back to the hotel, how do I find my way back with the compass? HELP!!
