Subject: Travel summary
Hi, everyone:

We're back to pick up our mail. What a summer! - We had dinner in New York with Candice & Tony at a great restaurant (her choice) La Tabla, viewed an Art Deco exhibit at the Met. Museum of Art. Stayed at the Essex House for a banquet held by Portuguese-US Chamber of Commerce.

New Jersey, Fall River, New Bedford and Providence, a great time with Rebbi and Michael (wonderful hosts) at a fine Portuguese dinner. The restaurant, in Providence, "O Dinis" has fado music most Monday nights. Stayed at the Biltmore Providence hotel, recently upgraded dowager (1927)-beautiful.

Then to Rome for two weeks. Had GTG's with Fanny Farkas and Paolo. He took us to a wonderful national park (waterfalls) about an hour from Rome near the great little medieval town of Calcata. Paraded around Rome and ate very well at Dal Bolognese in Piazza del Popolo.

Back to New York- Melrose Hotel on Lexington, 8th floor so we saw fireworks over the park. Whitney and Pierpont Museums. Then home briefly then to Lisbon for two weeks at Hotel Mundial-Great place with wonderful restaurant on the top (one of best in town) with a view of the city. Another good restaurant about a block away is Restaurant Mô.

Saw João (GTG) had a great day at a "Best of Show" dog show and a lovely lunch over the water across the new bridge over the Tejo River.

Tomorrow we are on the way for a week in San Francisco with our son and daughter-in-law, to Asian Art Museum geisha exhibit and Ferry Building (great) to eat at the Slanted Door. Don & Barbara in Los Angeles
