|Subject: Re: What attracts you to museums? Which is your favorite?|
I love them! I especially like finding odd museums, small ones that focus on one particular thing. I do like larger ones too and probably my favourite one is the Museum of London that takes you through 2000 years of the history of the city of London, UK. My first "oddball" museum was discovered in Leeds Castle, a "dog collar" museum. I've been to a Hat museum in Stockport, the shoe museum in Toronto, the fan museum in Greenwich, a little museum in the Opera Garnier in Paris. I've always got my eye open for small museums, sometimes also found on site of larger attractions, often just a room or two, like the museum that goes along with the Chelsea Royal Hospital. There's a lovely little museum in Cobh, Ireland called the Queenstown Story that tells the tale of Irish immigration, marine disasters the Titanic and Lusitania and the other shipping history that Cobh has seen over the years.
I always try to visit a few museums and art galleries whenever i travel and scan websites to find lesser known ones which also have the advantage of being less crowded.
