|Subject: Re: Bellagio & Positano Dining?|
My wife and I are going to be in Bellagio Sep 27 # Oct 1, staying at the Belvedere because of numerous recommendations from members of this group. If you're going to be there then maybe we could get together for dinner.
Although I have no personal experience with any restaurants in the area, the following recommendation in a letter in the travel archives of the San Francisco Chronicle http://www.sfgate.com/travel/followthereader/archive makes me want to eat there: "Ristorante Il Cavatappi is a five- table restaurant three blocks from Hotel du Lac in Varenna (a quick boat ride across the lake.) The restaurant takes wine and food pairings seriously. If the wine list of more than 100 Italian and French selections seems intimidating, Mario Nasazzi, the chef and owner, will happily take the time to recommend the perfect wine to go with your order. Through his efforts, we discovered a wonderful Sicilian wine that perfectly matched our meals. Il Cavatappi is open for dinner only, and closed Mondays. Cost for dinner, without wine, averages 25 euros ($26)."
Have a great trip, Al Sonoma, CA, USA
