Take a taxi. It is a small amount of money to pay but will bring the three of you great convenience and save precious time.
Sistine Chapel usually has a line, and closes earlier than St. Peter's Cahtedral. From Oct-June, Vatican's opening hour is Monday- Sat, 8:45 am-13:45. (I don't know if it opens on Sunday.) Sistine Chapel closed 30 minutes before the rest of the museum. Ticket office closed 1 hr earlier.
St. Peter's Cathedral opens till 6 or 7 pm, depending on winter/summer months.
The Coliseum closes around 3 pm in October, and may close at 1 pm on certain days of the week.
Again, you have a lot to see but don't have a lot of time. Get an updated guide book to find out the exact opening hours of each place on the day you will be visiting and plan accordingly. That way you won't get to a place to find out it is closed.
