I agree with Graziella regarding the small pastry shops in Buenos Aires. We also came across some delicious küchen in the Chilean Lake District. I particulary recall a "mil hojas" cake in Puerto Varas.
One day while driving from Luxembourg (Vianden) to Liege we stopped at a pastry shop in Clervaux. Shortly thereafter we thoroughly enjoyed our purchase, a frangipani and a St. Honoré, at the Bastogne monument.
Surprisingly Honolulu has two worthwhile destinations for pastries. Leonard's malasadas on Kapahulu Dr. and the cocoa puffs from Liliha Bakery are longtime favorites on Oahu.
