I've got to add my 2 (Canadian) cents worth re: Montreal. I agree with Lucy that Chateau Versailles is a delightful spot. I just got back to Toronto this am from Montreal where I stayed, for the first time, at Auberge Bonaparte in old Montreal. It's a little family owned hotel which provides attentive, personal service. Rooms are lovely. It's a minute away from Notre Dame Cathedral and smack bang in the middle of old Montreal. Horse drawn carriages (filled with tourists) liven up the streets that are lined with lovely boutiques, cafes and bistros. There is a fabulous restaurant in the Auberge Bonaparte where the table degustation, which I had last night, is spectacular. Bonaparte is 25 minutes by cab from the airport. (p.s. breakfast is included.) On the other hand - Chateau Versailles is great too.
