|Subject: Re: Portugal - Sept 2004|
Hi Carol... just to add another cent to your 2, my comments
were not intended as a blanket denegration of the Algarve;
however, as a fairly well traveled journeyer my perception
is that much more is offered by many other parts of
Portugal. It's that "So many places to visit, so little time"
reality that would prod me to exclude from recommending the
recently over-built, commercialized and relatively
uninteresting terrain of the Algarve.
For those open to the experience, fascinating people, widely varying world views and exotic dining opportunities are available to most of us just down the street or across town. To endure 18 hours of flight time and the concommitant travel struggle inspires one to some selectivity when choosing a destination for exploration and enlightenment. And that was my point.
