|Subject: Re: What Area of Vancouver?|
Hi Diane, Are you planning to stay in Vancouver proper or a
suburb? If so, which one? The region is quite spread out and
transit to some areas dismal at best. Taxis are ridiculously
expensive (mostly because of distance).
What kinds of things do you like to see? Downtown Vancouver (very expensive accommodation) there is the Vancouver Aquarium, Storyeum, a new underground museum that depicts the history of BC via live performers, Stanley Park (lots of walking), Gastown (more walking). North Vancouver has Grouse Mountain with a gondola and wildlife refuge at the top, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Fish Hatchery. University of BC has the Museum of Anthropology and UBC Botanical Gardens. Further out in the Fraser Valley, Langley has Fort Langley, HBC fort and the birthplace of BC, Salmon spawning runs in Maple Ridge and several other locations. Way out in Mission is a First Nations longhouse site. Lots to see and do in between.
