Subject: Re: Frankfurt Airport Layover Help |
Hi Angie,
We just returned from Tuscany with a 5 hour stopover in Frankfurt. After leaving our hand luggage at a checked counter, we boarded a local train and took the 20 minute ride to the Romer district where we wandered in this old section and stopped for the most sensational lunch at Zum Standesaemtchen. After breakfast (if you can call it that) on our Milan/Franfurt flight, we stuffed ourselves with pigs knuckles, sausages, sauerkraut, 1 Weiss beer and 1 Pilsner followed by apple strudel with ice cream, whipping cream drizzled with caramel. We thoroughly enjoyed this diversion and it made the "travelling home" day very special. At no time did we feel concerned that we would be late for our flight. Remember that we were already checked through to Toronto and only required being back at the airport about an hour before our flight. This gave us ample time for the ride to and from this area and a relaxing lunch. The train is a local one and runs very frequently. I highly recommend this excursion. http://www.zum-standesaemtchen.de Felice in Toronto, Ontario |
