concerning your little grandchild... I am not sure when you will be in Paris (maybe you wrote it somewhere but I forgot), but if it's spring or summer, I'd suggest an afternoon at the Jardin du Luxembourg. One of the nicest parks in Paris and what was wonderful to watch are the water bassins where the children can rent very old-fashioned ships to play with. Of course you have to watch over your toddler, but he might have fun to watch the scenery and there are probably also many other children around. And - iirc - there are also other things to rent to play with on the lawns and the pavements.
