Subject: Re: Another Question About Australia
Hi Mark, Thanks for your request for clarification! There are probably other mystified Ziners who would appreciate knowing what "First Nations" means. In Canada, Native people, Indians, or Aboriginal people prefer to be called "First Nations", signifying that they are the first peoples of this land. The term has enjoyed increasing useage as Land Claims negotiations have been instigated between various Indian communities and Provincial and Federal governments. Having worked with many Native people here in B.C. for the last 25 years, I am curious about the first peoples of Australia, the Aborigines, and how they are faring these days.

I am looking forward to finding out, during my visit to southern Australia, starting next Wednesday! All the best, Terry in Vancouver, B.C.
