hello, ziners.
i returned last week after four wonderful nights in london
with my daughters from minneapolis and mamaroneck. we stayed
in a hotel in the covent garden area and i prebooked two
plays and a visit to the london eye for a 5:30pm ride to
watch the sunset. we found the prices to be extremely high
if converting from dollars and used foot power most of the
time. my daughters were dying to go to portobello road on
saturday morning to view the market but i would absolutely
dissuade anyone from going there. we arrived at 10:30 am and
there were hordes of people. it was a security as well as
public health hazard. i am sure that it has charm during the
week if you want to visit lovely antique stores and stroll a
unique neighborhood but stay away, at least on saturday
morning through midday. we were there for such a brief
amount of time that we did not purchase any type of money
saving transportation tix or cultural tix. i would take some
time on the web and enquire about 24 hour and 48 hour passes
which give reduced fees to cultural activities and general
transportation.
