Subject: Re: Walking Holidays in Europe |
Hi Ziners,
A review of an InnTravel walk by friends in the UK: We enjoyed our holiday walking in Catalonia. The trip we did was with Inntravel (http://www.inntravel.co.uk) "Pyrenees to the Garrotxa". We arranged our own flight to Barcelona because it was much cheaper. They provided us with train tickets and arranged taxis at either end. Route and hotels were well chosen, luggage appeared by magic at the next hotel and some hotels were very remote (dirt tracks etc). Good walking notes (perhaps over detailed). There are no fixed dates when a trip starts so you are not part of a group (unless someone else happens to have decided on the same dates). I thought the walking was about right for us in terms of difficulty (we had been out walking most weekends for a couple of months as "training"). We started in snow (mainly because of the height) but it was mostly fine. Lots of flora, fauna, mountains and hills plus some very recent (in geological terms) volcanoes. Also some historic villages. Food was good (apart from pigs trotters which I had to try but can't recommend). Frances Toronto, Canada |
