Of course, people should use whatever bags suit their tastes and needs best; my only argument is to consider the trade- offs and consequences carefully. There is a good reason why not a single travel expert in the article I referenced does not recommend wheeled luggage.

The Eagle Creek Switchback 22, by way of example, weighs 9 lbs. 4 oz. (4.2 kg). This is about half the carry-on weight limit for many airlines (especially the budget carriers), which doesn't leave much allowance for contents. For some carriers (e.g., British Airlines, economy class), this bag consumes a staggering 70% of the carry-on allowance.
