|Subject: Re: Ski season approaches|
For years we have skied the Rockies as well as Whistler (we prefer the Blackcomb side). A trip to Aspen means more than hobnobing with the glitterati. The locals tend to ski Aspen Highlands which is less crowded and a lot of fun. For downright cruising Snowmass is tops, but it is not as challenging as Aspen itself. I loved our trips to Whistler, but I would prefer Aspen for the apres-ski.
For families I prefer either Steamboat or Vail, both in Colorado. In Vail the children could go out and all we had to do to retrieve them was wait at the bus stop. It loops so they would eventually turn up. ;-)
This year we might go to Mammoth, will definitely ski Park City and we are scheduled for three weeks in Andorra. In between there should be some runs at Stowe, Vermont (where my daughter is the host of Good Morning Stowe [unabashed plug]) and a couple of tune up runs at smaller but closer areas.
We had an early snow in Massachusetts this year and there were some x-country skiers out (including me), but the warm weather has since come back and we will have to wait a while.
