Hello,
Guadalajara is a great city, and the music is fantastic. If you can go during the mariachi festival in Aug/Sep, do so. I would like to recommend a fantastic place to stay if you go to Guadalaraja. Stay in Tlacapacque, only about 10-15 minutes from the city center, about $5 by cab. This town is an artisan town, very walkable and friendly. Do yourself a favor and look into staying at Casa de las Flores, a small bed and breakfast in a neighborhood. It is delightful and we will always stay here. The rooms are comfortable, and the interior garden is relaxing and inviting. The place is full of many pieces of art and artifacts. The owners have put alot of their love and talents into this place and they can also set you up with transportation, tours or just good advice. Their number is 011 52 33 3659 3186 and their web page is www.casadelasflores.com. They provide you with a beautiful breakfast and great coffee. Their prices are very, very reasonable. My husband is Mexican, and I had a had a hard time selling him on a "bed and breakfast", but he loved this place as well.I hated to leave when our stay was over and felt like we were leaving friends. At the end of a day, we could hardly wait to come back and relax. The town of Tlacapacque itself is worth the trip and the location is very close to most everything. Cabs are inexpensive and buses go everywhere. Happy travels, Lynne Gig Harbor, Wa |
