|Subject: Re: Indian Ocean disaster / Risk consideration|
If I was planning to travel to Bangkok, the first thing I would do is check my travel insurance as the policy may be affected by the new disaster - no insurance means no travel as far as I'm concerned. If my insurance was still valid, I would go ahead with my plans - Thailand is one of my favourite places to visit and I'd feel that some of the tourist dollars I am spending, will aid the recovery of their tourist industry.
The Australian Dept of Foreign Affairs and Trade has had Thailand on its travel warning list for several months, mainly due to terrorist activity in the south. The latest warning (dated 30 Dec and covering both terrorism and the tsunami areas) can be read here http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/zw-cgi/view/Advice/Thailand
