I never was in Scandinavia in December but friends of mine live in southern Sweden - and they did not recommend to visit them in winter. Going by car is something you should be used, too, I think (dealing with a lot of snow and ice that is), but the major point could be darkness. The more north you get the fewer hours in "light" you will have. It might be kind of an experiment for your social endurance, but it might at least be an obstacle to visit certain sightseeing points.
