|Subject: Help with Greece|
Hello again Ziners!
I'm wondering if any of you have advice for first time visitors to Greece, particularly about hotels and restaurants. Our itinerary will probably indlude stays in or near Athens, Delphi, Olympia, Nafplio, Santorini, and Naxos. As for hotels, we're looking for ones in the underrated two- star to four-star range, and preferably locally owned and operated (not a large chain). Also, has anyone stayed at the Chelidonia Villas in Oia on Santorini? They got rave reviews on Trip Advisor, but I'm a little bit leery of any hotel that doesn't take credit cards and wants a 50% deposit wired to their bank account. I realize they're trying to keep their costs down, but I'm still a little nervous about that arrangment. (Guess I've been working in Washington,DC too long, huh?)
We prefer restaurants where the locals eat. You know, the ones that don't have menus in English.
I've read the archived postings on Greece, but I was wondering if anyone had anything new to add. Many thanks in advance to all you incredibly knowledgeable and helpful Ziners!
